Community Survey Late last year, the St. Francis School District asked for the community’s participation in a district-wide survey to help establish their future educational and facility plans. Community members were asked about various long-term priorities related to the community, educational programs, and facility options. Nearly 350 district residents participated in the survey, the results of which will be used by the board to create a long-term educational and facilities strategy. Among the findings: • Community members, especially those without children in the schools, expressed a desire to be better informed about the district. • Community members placed a high priority on improving the quality of the programs and services offered by the schools. • In rating the importance of 20 facility items, respondents ranked “computers and technology” and “adequate lighting in the classrooms” as the two most important items. • Community members expressed support for addressing necessary repairs to existing buildings but did not support building new schools. Many respondents stressed the importance of making the most efficient use of tax dollars. Click here for the full report.
