2007-2008 Budget Highlights

Tax Rate

· The final graph shows the tax rate history over the last twelve years.  The District has managed to keep the tax rate down over the last few years.  Because of the decline in aid, the District’s property taxes will increase to make up for the loss.

Overall, the District has continued to experience declining resident enrollment, leading to a decline in state   aid.  The end result is an increase to property taxes.  The District must continue to attract   and retain resident students in order to maintain financial stability, keep taxes low and maintain the same number of programs for our students.  If there is a negative shift in the number of resident students, the District must accept students through the Open Enrollment program in order to maintain a certain population.  If the District’s population gets too low, it becomes difficult to maintain all of the programs the District currently has to offer.
