FROM THE
BOARD PRESIDENT

The School District’s function is to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.
Student learning is the driving force in school board decisions.

A number of new hires have been added and we are excited about the start of another school
year.  Employees of the St. Francis School District bring unique talents and gifts to our learning
community and we are fortunate to have a dedicated and capable staff.

Though our District has many success stories, there is work to be done.  Core curriculum
initiatives, new textbooks, hiring quality staff, updating our upper elementary science rooms are
some of the improvements that have been implemented with the hope that test scores and student
             learning will improve.

The School Board, earlier this year, voted to go forward with a construction and/or remodel of our
building(s) referendum.  The scope is still to be determined as the Board and Administration review
recommendations from the Facilities Committee and discuss options during public work sessions.

It is imperative that the School District have the support of our community as we move forward
with plans for the referendum.  A competitive school system retains and attracts students, increases
our property values and makes our City more attractive to potential businesses and homeowners.

We will be asking for your opinion and comments in the coming months.  The School Board and
Administration invite you to join the dialogue as we proceed with the process.
